Back to School Time...

Today I sent all three of my kids off for a full day of school. For the first time.
(Hold Me!)

They were in good spirits this morning, Oldest was delighted that he didn't have to get up as early as last year, due to busing changes in our district which will necessitate that most days we drive him to school (they are now charging $1 per bus ride, plus he'd have to take two different buses to get to school).  He even got to eat breakfast with us!

Oldest is off to ELEVENTH GRADE this year, that's right, a Junior!

Middle Child set out for Fifth Grade this morning, his last year of Elementary school has begun! His new teacher this year is new to the school and is thus a complete unknown. His friends have proclaimed him "Professor Pokemon" for his extensive knowledge of the critters, and this has gained him additional social status. Yeah, 5th graders are weird. He has also decided that hair-combing is seriously overrated.

And Finally, the Little Guy is off to First Grade. His first full day school experience! I am having a hard time believing it. He was a little nervous last night but r'aring to go this morning. His new lunchbox is a matter of great excitement, and the idea of two recesses appeals to him greatly.

So, we're off - into another big year!

And, yes, I know it seems awfully early to be back to school but we have a modified year round schedule (with a two week break in October, and two weeks at Spring Break, and they get out in late May) so it's really not so bad.

  2. It's not that early for Colorado, it seems. H heads back in exactly two weeks. It's been a short summer here, coming from Washington's June 21 release. I kind of wonder if our district is easing towards the year-round thing. I just noticed they added a weeklong break in October that wasn't there before.
